General
“Do RED-i services cost money?”
Nope! All of our services are free to registered student organizations at NC State. Just submit a project request here to get started.
“If I am a student, can RED-i help me with a school project?”
No. Unfortunately we only provide services to registered student organizations at NC State.
“How are projects delivered?”
Final project files are most commonly delivered through shared Google Drive folders. Graphic Design requests will receive files in the form of PNGs and sometimes SVG vectors. Photo and Video requests will not receive access to the unedited photos and raw footage, only the polished final product. More details can be found in the sections below.
“What classifies as a student organization?”
Student Organizations are those that have registered through the Student Leadership and Engagement Get Involved website. You can find out more on how to become a Student Organization here.
Graphic Design
“Does RED-i offer printing services for posters, flyers, brochures, etc?”
At this time, no. We will gladly suggest places that offer those services, though.
“Do you provide editable project files (such as Adobe Illustrator files)?”
For graphic design work, (mainly logos) we will provide an SVG (vector) file, which in certain programs like Adobe Illustrator can be slightly modified. However, for other work (such as posters, flyers, social media posts, etc.) we don’t provide the editable project files to protect the creative rights of our designers.
“Can RED-i use an existing logo in a design?”
Yes! If your student org already has a logo, we are able to include it in a design. If your organization has an official trademarked logo and brand, we usually request to see the branding rules for your organization before moving forward with the design process.
Photo
“Can I request a certain photographer?”
You may! While we cannot guarantee individual staff’s availability, you can certainly tell us your preference.
“How long does it take to get the photos?”
Student organizations can expect the final, edited photos about 1-2 weeks after the last shoot day. Our staff can occasionally accommodate a shorter turnaround period, but this cannot apply to all projects. This is why we ask all project requests to be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event date.
Video
“Does RED-i offer live streaming services?”
We currently do not. We can provide event recording services, where we set up a camera to capture the event in its entirety from one spot for student organizations to use or post following the event date. Please fill out a project request form if that interests you and your club!
“Does RED-i provide raw footage from projects?”
We do not provide any raw footage to any student organization.
